You can access your windows dedicated server through a server service called terminal server services. First, you have to download a terminal service client (Download here). Install the terminal service client on your windows system and run the terminal services client. Input your server IP address on the server field and click on connect.
2. Where can I find the installation files needed for my windows dedicated server? top..
You can find the installation files (i386 folder) by emailing support@wowrack.com.
3. How do I find out what service pack level my windows server is on? top..
You can check the service pack level by right clicking on ‘my computer’ on your desktop and select properties.
4. How do I setup a web server? top..
Make sure Internet Information Services is installed on your server. To check this, do the following:
- Click on start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs.
- Click on add/remove windows components on the left panel.
- Bring up the windows components wizard dialog box and make sure Internet Information Services (IIS) is checked.
5. How do I transfer my files to my dedicated server? top..
You can transfer your files to your dedicated server through FTP server. FTP is a file transfer protocol designed to transfer files between an ftp server and ftp client. Please look at the simple instruction to setup FTP server below. You can download popular FTP client such as CuteFTP or Bulletproof FTP and install it on your home workstation to transfer files.

FTP server is a part of Microsoft Internet Information Services. You can check and see if FTP server is installed on your server by doing the following:
- Click on start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs.
- Click on add/remove windows components on the left panel.
- Bring up the windows components wizard dialog box and highlight Internet Information Services (IIS). Click on details.
- Make sure the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server checkbox is checked.
7. How do I manage my web and ftp server? top..
You can manage your web and ftp server using the internet information services snap in provider by windows server. Do the following:
- Click on start, programs, administrative tools, Internet Information services.
- Double click on your server and it should show the default website and default ftp server.
- Right click on the website / ftp server that you’d like to manage and select properties.

You can install any windows applications on your server. Please follow the installation manuals that came with your software in order to ensure proper application installation. If you’d like to run a program 24/7 as a service, you can use an excellent freeware from Firedaemon.
9. Should I install an antivirus client? top..
Since your server is connected to the Internet 24/7, we urge you to install antivirus client and regularly updating the virus definition in order to ensure virus protection on your system.

11. How should I configure my terminal server for maximum security? top..
You can do the following in order to configure your terminal server for maximum security.

1. Disable the TsInternetUser account from the system. This is just a default account used for TS Internet connector licensing mode for anonymous user.
- Right click on my computer and select manage.
- Expand Local users and groups and click on the users folder.
- Double click on the TsInternetUser account.
- Check the “account is disabled” checkbox and click ok.

2. Configure RDP-TCP Settings on your Terminal services configuration.
- Click on start, programs, administrative tools, terminal services configuration.
- Double click on RDP-TCP and change the following settings:
- On the general tab, select high for the encryption level.
- On sessions tab, select end a disconnected session after 15 minutes, idle session limit after 30 minutes, check the ‘override user settings’ and select the ‘end session’ radio button.
- On the permissions tab, set permission per user instead of per administrator if necessary. The system account is NEEDED. Do not delete.
- On the client settings tab, disable ‘Windows printer mapping’ and ‘LPT port mapping’.

3. Click OK and exit from terminal services configuration.
12. When I connect to the terminal server, it says maximum user connection reached. Why? top..
By default, Windows server only allows 2 connections to the terminal service administrative mode. If you have previously logged in and forgot to properly logoff, your terminal service might still see the 2 previous connection and disallow you go login to the terminal server. In order to prevent this from happening, please log off properly by going to the start menu and logging off the user. If you are permanently locked, please email our support team to unlock you from the terminal services.
13. How do I update my windows security and components? top..
- Click on start, windows update.
- Click on Yes to accept Microsoft security update agreement.
- Click on scan for updates and select your desired components update.
- Click install now and it will begin the download and installation process.
14. How do I create additional usernames? top..
- Right click on ‘my computer’ and select manage.
- Expand Local users and groups, right-click on the users folder, and select new user.
- Enter the desired user information and click Create.
15. How do I change my user password? top..
- Right click on ‘my computer’ and select manage.
- Expand Local users and groups, double-click on the users folder.
- Highlight the desired user and right click on the username. Select set password and enter the new password.
16. How do I add additional IP addresses on my server? top..
- Right click on my network places and click on properties.
- Double click on the EXTERNAL Network connection and click on properties.
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on properties.
- Click on Advanced.
- On the IP addresses section, click add.
- Input the given IP address and select 255.255.255.0 as your subnet mask. IMPORTANT: Please ONLY use the given IP addresses. Entering wrong IP addresses information may cause your server to be unusable and create unnecessary network problems.
- Click Add and hit OK three times.
17. How do I defragment my hard disk drive? top..
- Click on start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter.
- Select the drive you’d like to be defragmented and start the defragmentation process.
18. How do I format a drive? top..
- Right click on ‘my computer’ and select manage.
- Expand on storage and click on disk management.
- Right click on the drive that you’d like to format.
- Select NTFS as the file system and click ok.
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to format your c: drive. Doing so will cause your server to be unusable.
