April 26, 2006

Wowrack has just completed its final implementation of HSRP (Hot Standby Routing Protocol) and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) on their backbone network. Wowrack's Core backbone router is currently running on a pair of Cisco 6509 running from two separate datacenters within our Westin building datacenter. Wowrack has also upgraded its core switches to run on another pair of Cisco 6509, also running on two separarate datacenters within the Westin building.

HSRP is a routing protocol that provides backup to a router in the event of failure. Using HSRP, the two core routers are connected to the same segment of an Ethernet and work together to present the appearance of a single virtual router on the LAN. The routers share the same IP and MAC addresses, therefore in the event of failure of one router, the hosts on the LAN are able to transparently continue forwarding packets to a consistent IP and MAC address. More information on HSRP can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/cisintwk/ics/cs009.htm

Wowrack always strive to deliver high quality of service to its customer. We continue to be innovative and always try to stay ahead of the curve to deliver quality network to our customer.
