Why “Remote Hands” is the Extra Hand You Need

If you’re looking into utilizing the help of a managed service provider, then you already know what it can do for your company. Perhaps your business has recently grown a lot, or you’re thinking of starting a business and you want to make sure you get off on the right foot. The types of Internet services out there that an MSP can provide for your business vary greatly. Once you’re all caught up on how exactly your Internet service will be helping your company, it’s good to know some more details about the various “perks” involved. “Remote hands” is one of these perks, and it’s a great feature of any MSP’s program that will go above and beyond other aspects of a service you expect to have.

Here’s what you need to know about “remote hands” and how it will help you immensely as your MSP monitors your business’ Internet situation:

What is “Remote Hands?”

Most people have a general idea of what it means to access a computer or network remotely. Maybe you don’t know how to do it yourself, but you know it can certainly come in handy when you’re in desperate need of help from your MSP. Remote hands is a way for your MSP to access your equipment at the data center when you can’t go there yourself. It could either be because you’re traveling or because you just can’t seem to figure out what to do. Overall, it’s just easier when a technical specialist can hop in there right away. After all, why waste time?

Because Time is Money

Again, you can’t afford to sacrifice your company’s efficiency just because you’re having an Internet issue. If you’re running a large business online, you can lose a lot of money even if you have a minute of downtime. Your MSP understands this.

And, as we know, time is money.

An MSP knows that the type of Internet services businesses choose from are chosen for a reason. You need your IT team and the rest of your staff to focus on what’s important. You can’t take the chance that someone might be available if your server fails. And, anyway, you can’t ask staff to walk away from their responsibilities to visit the data center when you’re not around. Luckily, a remote hands service will be there to rescue you and the rest of your staff in no time.

In addition to the variety of Internet service packages Wowrack provides for businesses, we take it a step further. The Difference Between Basic Remote Hands and Smart Remote Hands

While “remote” really has only one meaning in this case, there are different ways your MSP can access your equipment to help you. Of course, this will vary by each managed service provider, but generally, you can find this type of set-up across the board:

One type of remote service is known as  “Basic Remote Hands.” This is when your MSP can do the basics by remotely accessing your system. This includes situations that would require anything from a reboot to checking out KVM/IP hook-up problems, replacing hot-swappable power supply units, or just checking your device to better understand what the issue may be.

The other type is more advanced, and it’s known as “Smart Remote Hands.” This allows your MSP to do things that they would essentially only be able to do in person through smart technology. With this type of remote hands service, they can open up a device and troubleshoot directly, and even replace certain components that could be causing the problem you’re business is having with the Internet. Of course, since this is more complex, your MSP may charge a different amount for such a service.

Sometimes, it’s nice having an extra set of hands; even if those hands are digital!
